I wish I was laughing Making stupid bets that I could never win Like who can eat this chili packet Without crying? Wipe away your tears I'm not trying to save you I just want you near Plus I can feel it Seeping through your skin I wish I was laughing Making stupid bets that I could never win Like can you bring a person Back to life again? Wipe away the years Time is a construct If I want you here I just gotta think about you Long enough (I fell to life for a little while) Maybe you’ll visit My brain in a dream Lead with a joke and then vanish again I don’t want your sorry's They’re not gonna do I am the one that is sorry To you

The sea holds you softly and then turns you around Put my trust in something salty but it has let me down Sardines Packed in so tightly I peek They’re looking right at me The creatures in the distance grow indifferent to my cries Cause the ocean in its glory it has swallowed me alive Cut feet The mouth of some fishies Suck the Blood from my body Dark green seaweed Wraps me like a mummy Dark green seaweed Wraps me like a mummy

Do you think this is love Well I don't wanna tell you what is what In a dream I mistook Your kindness for romance You said the moon is giving you powers It's calling the shots now It's cutting me off Do you think this is love Well I don't wanna tell you what is what In a dream i mistook Your sadness for something I could fix You said the moon is giving you powers I'm calling the shots now I'm cutting me off Romance is dead Gather all of your friends I'll call it love when you mean what you said

Right down the middle Straight down the center I'm looking like Bobby from Twin Peaks It smells like vinegar I'm eating sauerkraut with beans Confusing flavors Is it my food or my feet? Snake tat Show the girls I'm tough Wear my leather jacket Even when it’s hot Turn up that reverb Go melt that butter I’ve never been to To the Red Lobster I think I’m nicer When I am winning I’ll race you to the To the beginning Snake tat Show the girls I'm tough Wear my leather jacket Even when it’s hot It smells like vinegar I'm eating sauerkraut with beans Confusing flavors Is it my food or my feet?

Those eyes Those eyes Falling Quick to their depths Not a word in me left For those eyes Those eyes Those eyes Pulled me right up in the nick of time Powerful stare with a drop of despair For those eyes, for those eyes Those eyes Those eyes Falling hard for their glare Not a breath in the air for those eyes Those eyes Those eyes Pulled me right up in the nick of time Powerful stare with a drop of despair For those eyes, for those eyes For those eyes, for those eyes For those eyes, for those eyes

Tangled hair answers my prayers Climax to a higher realm Indebted to a lonely friend Am i talking to myself? Sun sets and darkness Reaches all around All my bones are brittle They all heal themselves All my bones are brittle They all heal themselves Black cats are swarming fast A bike light warns it’s glow The clavicle has seven lives (I have six to go) The clavicle has seven lives (I have six to go) She does not consider Why I might have quit her Country rhyming just to fit it Lots of nonsense fills my sentence The clavicle has seven lives The cat who sings he tends to lie She does not consider I am far from such a quitter I am far from such a quitter I am far from such a winner

Called you up at midnight as I ordered all my mugs in a line Wondered what would happen What’s my body Where’s it goin when I die? Saw an open casket of my friend couldn’t look her in the eyes Jumped into the water felt the cold sending needles through my spine Sea shore I'm waterlogged again You’re raining down your purpose On the top of my head Thinking maybe you could use this feeling For something positive You could use this feeling Or just bottle up it Sea shore I'm waterlogged again You’re raining down your purpose On the top of my head Thinking maybe I could use this feeling For something positive I could use this feeling Or just bottle up it

The disco balls falls and you catch it Avoiding disaster When the lights have been dimmed and you know that You probably won’t last here Tickle my mind with a little joke inside Inside jokes I strive to know Let me know how to kick it (Real slow) When the lights have been dimmed and you know that You probably won’t last here Observing the laughter Into the masses Observing the laughter Into the masses I go The patterns that projected were just visions on the wall That slid across my face and slithered down the hall When the disco ball came loose it was a close call But the hips kept their rhythm never noticing at all As a rabbit would hop I escaped without a thought As a rabbit would hop I escaped And never stopped

The leaves are jumping to their death
Have you thought of doing that?
And I haven’t got the slightest clue As to what I'm gonna do

But I know That the woods make me miss you
And I hear The wolves howling too

And I thought that the sun was the moon
And you laughed and you called me a fool

The leaves are jumping to their death
Have you thought of doing that?
And I haven’t got the slightest clue
As to what I’m gonna do
And the dogs don’t bark but they beg for food
Will you feed them at high noon?

The water’s tinted orange cause the sky’s a fiery hue
And my body carries more than I imagined it could do

The leaves are jumping to their death
Have you thought of doing that?
Have you thought of doing that?
Have you thought...

My words are puddles Scattered ‘cross the floor You tried to weave your Way around them But I just kept making more I got the best of me I drew a perfect circle But no one was looking I got the best of me I tried to fly But nothing was working Turn up the time again This room hasn’t changed There I am sneaking Stretching chords Just to hear what the grownups say I got the best of me I dreamt the child I was Into being I got the best of me Awkward silence is all I'm hearing My words are puddles Scattered ‘cross the floor You tried to weave your way around them But I just kept making more You tried to weave your way around them But I just kept making more This room feels like a time warp

Merce Lemon is a songwriter born, raised, and currently living in Pittsburgh, PA. She grew up immersed in the city’s DIY scene, writing songs and playing in bands, including a punk band called Two Dragons Black and Red, until around the age of 12.

She then took a hiatus from performing through her teen years, not finding her voice again until moving to Seattle for her last year of high school. There she met Dylan Hanwright of the band Great Grandpa, who produced two releases with her: ‘Ideal For a Light Flow With Your Body’ and ‘Girls Who Jump In’. These songs were re-released in 2020 by Pittsburgh record label Crafted Sounds.

After moving back to Pittsburgh in the fall of 2017, Merce recruited a new band—including her father Greg Pierce on guitar. On her new album ‘Moonth’ Lemon and her band craft an intimate and starkly confessional sonic world of songs that grapple with large-scale ideas.

The nature of identity, the body, memory, and relationships are all explored through the lens of fluidity, with water as a recurring motif in her songwriting, and a fitting complement to lyrics and arrangements that draw you in like a gentle tide.
